Dealing with Travis Perkins on a cash sale basis

The UK's number one Builders Merchants, a brilliant company but Travis Perkins staff encourage you to open cash accounts for consistency on pricing, save asking you details each time and probably some sort of report for the branch manager and further up the food chain. The disadvantage of a cash account, over a credit account is when it comes to needing copies of invoices, reprints and so on, there is nothing credit control at head office can do, you need to visit the branch. The branch is unable to reprint or even trace these documents and all they can offer is (if they are very helpful) to go out to their document store and look for a copy. I believe these records are retained for 6 months before being shredded - no good when you want invoices from 3 years ago. The Tip - Open a credit account. If you want to pay as you go along, order the goods on your credit account and then make an account payment, appreciate this is slightly long winded but worth the work when it might be your trusses invoice with £1000.00 of vat on it, you are trying to recover. Also we suggest you ask for your invoices to be emailed rather than posted and activate their online service where you can view your documents and transactions
